From the Dominican Republic to Ghana

Another country.
Another sport. The same commitment to education.

Vias RD connects baseball with school accountability and mentorship in Barahona. Ghana Via will adapt that approach through soccer and develop additional projects with local partners.

01 / LOCATION

Begin in Cape Coast

Cape Coast is the first community identified for the work. Accra will serve as the planned headquarters for coordination and partnerships.

02 / LOCAL FUNDING

Build with a Ghana group

We are working to find a local group in Ghana to help fund the initiative and define the first activities and budget.

03 / EXPANSION

Go where needed

After the initial work, the intention is to reach other communities as needs, local partnerships, and funding are confirmed.

Soccer Via · Planned program

Bring players together.
Keep school in the picture.

The planned soccer program will connect practices and coaching with school enrollment and mentorship. Soccer will be the starting point for relationships with young people and their families.

Local partners will help determine the first teams, practice locations, age groups, and coaching arrangements in Cape Coast.

  • Soccer equipment and team uniforms
  • Regular coaching and organized practices
  • School accountability and family communication

Education support · Planned work

Books, uniforms,
and help staying in school.

Education support is planned alongside soccer. The areas identified so far include books, school supplies, uniforms, and scholarships.

With local schools and families, we intend to define who needs support, what that support should cover, and how to follow students’ progress. Scholarship amounts and eligibility have not yet been set.

  • Books and classroom supplies
  • School uniforms
  • Scholarships and support for continuing education

School projects · Longer-term plans

Support the places
where students learn.

School construction is part of the longer-term vision for Ghana Via. The first step will be to work with local education partners to identify a specific need and a workable project.

No construction site or project has been selected. Scope, costs, approvals, and ongoing responsibility will need to be established before work begins.

Water projects · Longer-term plans

Water wells,
planned with the community.

Water wells are another area we intend to explore with local partners. Each proposed project will need an identified community, a suitable site, a budget, and a plan for operation and maintenance.

No well locations or construction dates have been confirmed. We will share specific project details as local arrangements and funding develop.
